Rep. Bilirakis to host Annual Military & Veterans Resource Fair

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- On Saturday, May 19, Rep. Gus Bilirakis will host his annual Military & Veterans Resource Fair and appreciation event. The fair, which has become a popular event for area veterans, provides services and resources for servicemembers and veterans.

“I have made it a priority to be an advocate for veterans and their families in the United States Congress and we must ensure veterans receive the benefits they have earned through their service to our nation,” said Bilirakis, who is also Vice Chairman of the Veteran's Affairs Committee.

Free testing for Hepatitis A, B, and C on May 18

Pinellas County, Florida -- In honor of World Hepatitis Awareness Day on May 18, the Pinellas County Health Department is offering free testing for Hepatitis A, B, and C at all of its health centers.

"Hepatitis" means an inflammation of the liver. Viral hepatitis is leading cause of liver cancer and the most common reason for liver transplantation.

Vaccines for Hepatitis A and B are available through the county health department's STD clinics. There is no vaccine for Hepatitis C.

Meeting Tuesday to discuss Tarpon/Safford intersection improvements

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- On Tuesday, May 15, Tarpon Springs commissioners will discuss improvements to the Tarpon and Safford Avenue intersection.

Back on Jan. 24, City staff presented safety improvement options to the BOCC with the focus on improving traveling conditions for citizens while on the Pinellas Trail.

Staff researched other communities' approaches to safety at other Pinellas Trail intersections and also got input from the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

Pinellas County, Florida -- This summer, while kids are out of school PSTA is offering a deal to help families save money with the Summer Youth Haul Pass!

Starting May 15 through Aug. 31, PSTA will offer the pass for unlimited rides to anyone under the age of 18 for $35. Also included are rides on the Clearwater Jolley Trolley. Excluded rides on PSTA are Routes 100X and 300X to Tampa.
