Police arrest Tarpon Springs shooting suspect | Crime

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Detectives have arrested a man suspected of shooting a teen during a robbery attempt Saturday night.

Investigators say they received tips 35-year-old Elvin Joel Velez Pacheco was talking about the shooting to others. In addition, a cell phone dropped during the robbery by the suspect was also connected to Pacheco.

The motive in the crime appears to be random armed robbery in order to get cash since the victims did not know the man. Detectives are still trying to locate the gun used in the robbery.

Pacheco was arrested at his Clearwater home Monday evening and charged with Attempted Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery.
