Man suffering seizures rescued in the Gulf
News

Clearwater, Florida -- A crewman who suffered seizures aboard a fishing vessel 67 miles west of Tarpon Springs was rescued by the Coast Guard Thursday.

The boat's captain, Julio Pedro, notified the coast guard that a 37-year-old crewman was suffering intermittent seizures and vomiting. Watchstanders consulted a duty flight surgeon and decided a medical evacuation was necessary.

The Coast Guard said an MH-60 helicopter was launched from Air Station Clearwater and lowered a swimmer to access the situation. The helicopter used a water hoist to bring the victim aboard.

He was flown to Tampa General Hospital. His condition has not been reported.
