Local doctor accused of engaging in sex acts with teenage boy
News

Indian Rocks Beach, Florida -- A 50-year-old Pinellas County doctor was arrested on Friday night, accused of engaging in sexual activity with an underage boy for years.

During Dr. Brian Webster Cook's first appearance in court on Saturday morning, a state attorney said Cook's sexual interaction with the boy began when he was 15. The boy isn't related to Cook, but was in his care at the time. Detectives say the sexual activity went on for two years.

On Wednesday, someone reported it to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Cook was then presented with the allegations.

"He admitted to the activities that he is alleged to have been involved in with this minor child," says Marianne Pasha with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Cook is currently in jail without bond. He serves as the medical director at two StatMed walk-in clinics in Clearwater and Largo. He's also the Physician in Charge of Emergency Care at Palms of Pasadena Hospital.

Neighbors in Indian Rocks Beach say he's lived in a duplex there for about a month. Several of those neighbors have children of their own, and tell 10 News off-camera that they're worried about the allegations.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office believes the teenage victim in this case may not be the only one.

"After speaking with Dr. Cook and developing some other information, detectives are concerned that there might be other victims," Pasha says.
