Man impersonates being firefighter for free food, drinks

St. Petersburg, Florida -- A man was arrested at his Clearwater home Wednesday morning on charges he impersonated a firefighter so he could get free food and drinks at various locations, including All Children's Hospital.

St. Pete Police say 22-year-old Robert Spalla represented himself to employees at All Children's Hospital as a firefighter who has been with the St. Pete Fire Department for the past five years.

During their interactions with Spalla, hospital employees told police he would ask for special privileges such as food vouchers or gas cards.

Good Samaritan catches man who attacked another with ax handle

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- A patron at a convenience store stepped up in a big way to help police catch a man who attacked a fellow homeless man with the handle of an ax Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Tucker told Tarpon Springs police officers he saw James Knott come up behind Brian Kennedy with a 3-foot wooden ax handle in his hands and hit the man in the head as he sat on the edge of the sidewalk in front of the EZ Stop & Shop on S Walton Avenue. 

Surveillance video shows naked suspect in 7-Eleven

Holiday, Florida - Surveillance video is being released in the case of a naked man who attacked a clerk at a 7-Eleven and later led deputies on a car chase.

Pasco deputies say a man matching 30-year-old Abraham Andres Luna's description was spotted Monday evening wearing only construction boots near the Tarpon Springs Golf Course. Tarpon Springs Police responded, but did not find the suspect.

Holiday, Florida -- A man who obviously doesn't know how to call a cab was busted for the fifth time for driving under the influence Tuesday night.

According to his arrest report, 42-year-old Jimmy Williams was seen drinking a can of Busch beer as he drove by a Pasco County Sheriff's deputy on Baillies Bluff Drive around 10 p.m.

Man arrested for flying plane while drunk

FORT PIERCE, Florida (AP) - Authorities say a Bay area man has been arrested for flying a plane while drunk.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says a helicopter pilot reported seeing a plane flying very low and repeatedly trying to land early Sunday morning. After the single-engine plane landed, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper questioned the 36-year-old pilot, David Wayne King, and said he smelled alcohol on his breath.
